Welcome to the blender to imvu tutorials page. This is an unofficial website for blender tutorials, There are some others one I would most definitely recommend
is on JazzKats home page, jazzkat being a leader in using blender with imvu developing you can find a link to his tutorials on the links page, there is a link just
below to in the news section.
So the main reason for this site is, because there are many developers wanting to create their own 3D objects for the imvu catalog. Unfortunately the only software available for this is really 3Dmax 7, which is way out of the reach for most people because of the cost. There is the option to use a program called Sketch up
created by google, with the idea of putting 3d objects on the Google earth project, there is a small program called sketch up to imvu, available although it is quit limited in its functionality.
So this is where Blender 3d comes in to its own. It is an open sauce software package (free) and not to difficult to learn, although depending on what you want to do with it. I started as a 3d artist so i had to learn how it works form top to bottom and front to back. That will not be so if all you want to do is create 3D objects to go in the imvu catalog. and that is what this site is all about.
Blender its self has its limitation, although having said that i have my limitations using blender, in that i cant yet create posing nodes (known as spots) and although animationis possible it is very difficault for me. So if you are reading this and you have information to add to this site, please contact me with that information and i will gladly add it to the site.
The aim is to provide the relevant information and tutorials for you as a developer to be able to create your own 3D meshes, to learn to texture them using mesh weighting and how to export your work and how to use the imvu previewer, and to put your new products in the imvu catalog.
Thanks for looking Neo :0)

I have created a manual or user guide to help some of the beginners and others if you want to take a look, work with blender in conjunction with the imvu previewer, it is aimed at the absolute novice but I think it may help. The download link is on the downloads page if you are interested in taking a look. Put some useful template files with it to. Its in winrar format hope that’s not a problem you can get winrar Here. the user guide isn't finished yet but i will make it avalable as and when it is in the mean time hope it helps.

I am trying to find a way of creating a live webcam feed, which will give the viewer the ability to ask questions whilst watching. i think it will be
a great way to show people some of the methods used in modelling and all manor of things when using blender. so any thoughts on that
let me know. I will keep you updated
The latest on IMVU, is that they having talks at the moment as to which software they are going to recognise and support in the future, so if you haven’t been to the forum to post your comments on blender and indeed any other software you use but want more support for, click here to have your say. If the link dosn't work, go to the group page and see the thread call "please respond to this thread" posted by BeagleJ. there is a link in that thread leading to the imvu thread.
We are hoping blender will get some recognition and get some of the tutorials and info seen but more people, I believe there is a lot of talent not yet seen on imvu and blender is the way forward for those of us not in a positions to pay silly money for the big names in 3d, Having said that blender is in its self becoming one of those big names.
Blender user guide wins an award
I went PRO, lol
The pose1 software is proving to be very popular, but our good friend Boris has come up with a new version, pose 2c, it works the same but it has a few more features.
Version 2c "Pose2c" has a crude "Zoom" facility, select a bone within a hand and you can press Z to toggle a large view of the hand. Also the program can load either the text or XSF version of the skeleton data.
Version 2 "Pose2" now has a file open and save dialog. Press L to load a XAF file. The F5 and F6 save mechanism is still there and may still be useful to roll back edits but you can now reload your XAF files.
Here is a link for the new pose 2c, thank you Boris. CLICK HERE FOR POSE 2C
The latest on my home front is that there is now an avatar bone rig that can make hair, shoes and boots, and bottom clothing item. It is currently being tested by some of the most proficient blender users, to see what its capabilities are. I have to than Harley1979 for spotting a vital bit of the code that is exported from blender. Enabling me to use this information and create the much waited for rig. I am happy with the tests so far, and just waiting for some of the other guys to send in their findings, if all goes well I will be releasing the rig with template and tutorials for all to use. So with that all done, the next thing is to work on avatar heads, which I expect will be the biggest challenge yet. But apart from that we are almost set to be able to make just about anything.
My blender to imvu user guide has won an award, which means to me people are finding it easy to follow, and learn blender developing much easier, it has almost reached 800 downloads, meaning there are a lot more people interested in using blender than there are in the blender devs group, but if your reading this, and you use blender please feel free to join the group, its great fun and packed with information, help files and tutorials, all the guys there are always happy to help no matter what the question might be. I am in the process of making so changes to the user guide due to the new blender release 2.46, which has some great new features, just visit www.blender.org , for the latest download. The main thing to note with it is that the UV unwrapping is now done in edit mode, so you select the faces or vertices you wand to map and press the U key (which was the undo key which is now the ctrl and Z key)
All in all blender is doing well, with the users making some stunning products for the catalogue. We have set ourselves very high standards in what ever we do, mainly to prove the point to other software users that blender although can be a bit more complicated can do almost as much with a very few exceptions.
I know that some of you are having problems with the winrar packed files, so here is a link to a free download that will unpack them for you :0) RARZILLA FREE UNWRAPPER
